Autumn is my favorite season. Watching the trees shed all their pain and worries and witnessing their rebirth is one of the most magical thing one can witness. The city gets colorful with leaves of different hues of yellow and red. I feel inspired to play dress up and let my curiosity take me on a walking tour.

The hardest part about dressing up is making sure my outfit matches my prosthetic leg. My leg is a grey metal, to me it  looks like and average pipe although most people seem to think it’s cool. I knew there had to be something more fashionable out there.

I did some research and stumbled upon Alleles, a company based in Canada specializing in designing prosthetic covers. Alleles prides itself in creating fashion forward prosthetic leg covers. Seeing their designs, it is very apparent that Alleles is the meeting point between fashion and robotics.

I decided that if I was going to decorate myself Allele would be the way to. I posted one of their covers on my instagram account with the caption “Christmas wish list”

It was to my surprise that one of the co-founders offered to custom make a cover of my choosing. I was filled with joy and excitement. I  was already thinking about different ways I could style this new cover and incorporate it into not only my regular wardrobe but also my work attire.

I picked a design and color, I sent in my measurements and after impatiently waiting the cover arrived on Halloween(just 5 days after sending in my measurements) Like a kid on christmas day, I rushed to open the box and there it was not only the most amazing leg cover I had ever seen but with cute matching earrings and a lovely message from Alleles.

  “ Hey Cax!

We hope you love your new cover..it turned out so cool in the maroon & gold. We’re so excited to see you rocking it! We made you a pair of “amputee bling” earrings 😉

Right now there are only a couple of pairs out there!”

It’s been 4 days since I’ve received my new cover and I’ve worn it ever single day. My dream is to have different covers for different occasions. Mama Cax is one happy camper.

I’m in love with the details on the cover.With carving of trees and birds I feel like i’m carrying autumn with me.
